tfw you’re a young woman in the mid-nineteenth century who’s causing your parents consternation due to how many wax candles you burn so you can read in bed after dark, an expensive and dangerous activity associated with frivolous literature widely read by youth, ladies, and the lower classes, and commonly believed to cause ill health of various kinds

in a few years there’s gonna be some sort of diagnosis for trauma from the internet because so many of us got exposed to porn or some other horrific thing at a young age and nobody 20 years ago could have prepared us for how fucking damaging the internet is to our mental health

Tbh gender identity politics are just a way that white americans cope with not having any distinct cultural group to connect with through shared oral history or traditions

thinking about starting a sort of extreme pseudo-catholic religion where we only worship the virgin mary, and not god or jesus or anything else

not sure what the name would be but i’ve already worked out a central belief which is that since mary was actually the only divine being in the christian telling of jesus and so forth, she was able to give birth as a virgin (literally create life! wow) but early christians invented all this other nonsense about her actually being impregnated by god in some way and how jesus is god’s son etc etc to decenter her from the story and reduce her to an object on which the divine acts, rather than a divine actor herself (the divine actor). this is why she still has such a big pull among christians, even with all the scripture reducing her role she still has immense divine pull which leads people to venerate her as much as they can within the boundaries of christian doctrine.

love this how do i sign up
